Qt Template

Sample graphical projects, including a File Editor, a 3D Viewer, a fun Tic Tac Toe game, and an Image Draw app.

About this project

Around this time at work, I was getting closer exposure to graphical desktop applications, both through using Qt and through participating in a Tkinter book club. To explore the power of these types of tools and gain experience in creating my own applications, I decided to make template examples of Qt applications that I could pull from in the future when making desktop GUI apps.

The Templates

Each template was meant to resemble a distinct type of project I would be interested in creating in the future.

File Editor

A basic file editor, with a visual style similar to VS Code, that allows opening, editing, and saving plaintext files.

Rotate 3D

An OpenGL rendering app that can show a variety of 3D objects rotating in the window. Four examples are provided: a simple triangle, a cube, a rhombic dodecahedron, and an open-source dog key chain model. Additionally, users can upload their own. The meshes are dynamically colored, and the rotation is configured to show every angle of an object.

Tic Tac Toe

A simple game of tic tac toe, laying out a framework for handling mouse clicks, canvas rendering, and game logic.

Image Draw

A Paint-inspired app for drawing and saving simple images.
